Description
Jump Start Kangaroo
The Cascades Jump Start Kangaroo AFO is designed to support young children who present with fully-correctable pronation, supination, or excess plantarflexion. Engineered to improve foot alignment, walking patterns and overall stability, this dynamic AFO encourages movement in stronger, more functional positions—helping little ones build confidence as they walk and explore.
The Kangaroo features a full inner wrap made from soft, flexible polyethylene to hold the foot securely in a corrected position. This provides control through the heel, midfoot and forefoot, while still remaining comfortable for all-day wear. A supportive outer shell adds structure, arch support and heel stability, while the posterior trimline blocks excess plantarflexion—ideal for children who toe-walk or hyperextend at the knee.
With open anterior access for free dorsiflexion and a fully contoured plantar surface for proprioceptive input, this AFO encourages a more natural walking pattern. It’s an excellent early-stage orthotic for children requiring gentle guidance into improved alignment while still allowing movement and growth.

An AFO (Ankle Foot Orthosis) is a brace worn on the lower leg and foot to support alignment, movement, and stability. AFOs help control ankle position, improve walking patterns, reduce muscle strain, and prevent falls or compensatory gait behaviours.
They are commonly used for:
-
Toe-walking or excessive plantarflexion
-
Pronation or supination
-
Neuromuscular weakness
-
Post-surgery support
-
Cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, developmental delay
-
Foot and lower-limb instability
AFOs work by guiding the foot and ankle into a more efficient posture, improving balance and mobility while supporting long-term musculoskeletal development. When fitted correctly, they allow children to move confidently, safely, and more comfortably during everyday activities.
The Jump Start Kangaroo AFO provides the right balance of stability, movement, and comfort—helping young children take stronger steps with improved posture, alignment, and control.
