The Boxia® Drop Foot AFO is the UK’s leading solution for the discreet and effective management of foot drop caused by flaccid paralysis. Designed to improve walking safety and confidence, Boxia® gently assists dorsiflexion during the swing phase of gait, helping to lift the forefoot and reduce the risk of catching the toes on the ground.

Unlike traditional rigid ankle-foot orthoses, the Boxia® system sits externally to the shoe, providing excellent support without compromising comfort or requiring additional space inside your footwear. This lightweight, low-profile design makes it ideal for everyday use while remaining discreet under clothing.

The system consists of two components: a comfortable cuff worn around the lower leg above the ankle, and a secure, non-slip hook section that attaches to the shoe. An adjustable elastic tension strap connects the two, allowing your clinician to tailor the amount of dorsiflexion assistance to your individual needs.

Constructed from breathable, perforated materials with soft gel padding around the Achilles tendon and the front of the ankle, the Boxia® Drop Foot AFO is designed for long-lasting comfort throughout the day.

Understanding Foot Drop

What is Foot Drop?

Foot drop is a condition that makes it difficult to lift the front part of the foot when walking. As a result, the toes may drag along the floor during each step, increasing the risk of tripping and falling. Many people naturally compensate by lifting their knee higher than usual, often referred to as a “steppage gait.”

Foot drop is not a condition itself but a symptom of an underlying neurological or muscular problem. It can occur following:
