Description

Penguin Plantarflexion AFO

Penguin Plantarflexion AFO (Standard)

The Penguin Plantarflexion AFO (Standard) is a lightweight, low-profile orthosis crafted from dual-density materials. It features a soft inner lining that extends from the lower calf and wraps around the entire plantar surface of the foot, ensuring comfort, while the rigid outer shell provides firm support to reinforce correct alignment.

This AFO is designed to enhance foot clearance during the swing phase and provide control over both dorsiflexion and plantarflexion. Ideal for patients experiencing foot drop, plantarflexion contractures, or mild coronal instabilities, it offers greater stance stability and improved gait mechanics.

With its supramalleolar containment design and dorsal midfoot enclosure, the Penguin AFO promotes mediolateral stability while reducing pressure on the skin. The Velcro® D-loop fastening system ensures a secure yet adjustable fit, making it practical for daily use.

What is an AFO?

Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFOs) are medical devices designed to support and stabilize the ankle and foot. They are commonly prescribed for individuals with neurological or musculoskeletal conditions that affect gait, balance, or lower limb strength. AFOs help improve walking efficiency, reduce the risk of falls, and provide comfort by aligning the foot and ankle into a more natural position.
