At Halo Medical, our approach to orthotic care goes beyond simply fitting devices. As orthotists, we are deeply involved in the clinical journey of our patients—working as part of wider multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), supporting complex cases, and drawing on years of specialist clinical knowledge to provide truly individualised care.
We work closely with a range of clinical specialists, including diabetic podiatrists, endocrinologists, physiotherapists, and neurologists. Whether it’s managing complex diabetic foot conditions, post-surgical neurorehabilitation, or paediatric neuromuscular disorders, our team is trusted to deliver orthotic solutions that align with and support broader treatment goals.
In recent years, inpatient rehabilitation services have become more ward-based, particularly for adult neuro cases. As a result, we’re now more involved in rehabilitation planning than ever before, assessing patients directly on the ward and collaborating with physios to support early mobilisation, gait retraining, and postural care.
We also offer ad hoc joint appointments with specialist clinicians, tailoring our involvement to the specific needs of the patient. This level of integration ensures continuity of care and clinical efficiency, and, most importantly, better outcomes for the people we support.
For me personally, this work is not just professional—it’s deeply personal. As both a clinician and a parent of a child with a rare syndrome who also accesses orthotic care, I understand the difference that empathy and lived experience can make. I regularly share parts of that journey with patients, because I believe in treating every individual with the same dignity, care, and understanding I’d want for my own family.
